The construction of this project entailed the widening and complete reconstruction of the existing Nassau Expressway (I-878) in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York.

As part of the road widening, a 60″ diameter reinforced concrete storm drainage pipe was installed for the entire length of this project, Large retention basins were constructed on both sides of the Nassau Expressway at the low end of the new storm drainage line. A concrete noise wall was constructed at the west Right-of-Way line, adjacent to private homes. Both retention basins were required to be constructed utilizing wetland plants.

The project also included street lighting, traffic signs, landscaping planting, and new traffic control.
