Croton-Harmon Station Improvements​

This project for Metro North Railroad consisted of station improvements at the Croton-Harmon Station. The construction sequence had to be developed so that all work coordinated with Metro North Railroad operations, while taking only one track out of service at one time.

The scope of work included:

  • Removal of existing concrete platforms and piers
  • Demolition of the existing pedestrian overpass
  • Removal of existing railroad ties and stone ballast and excavation of new stone ballast
  • Construction of new cast-in-place concrete footings and new concrete foundation for a new Southern Overpass
  • Installation of new precast concrete platforms and bents for two high level platforms
  • Construction of a completely enclosed pedestrian overpass over three mainline tracks
  • Rehabilitation of all staircases to the existing four passenger elevators
  • Installation of platform and staircase canopies, railroad signage and furnishings
  • Installation of new platform lighting and other electrical amenities
  • Snow melting test section on platform
