The rehabilitation of the existing Seagirt Boulevard Bridge over Nassau Expressway (I-878) consists of the removal and replacement of the concrete overlay bridge deck, the concrete patching of the structural concrete deck and concrete abutments, installation of cast-in-place concrete barrier separating the traffic flow along new reinforced concrete approach slabs, steel bridge railing, guide railing, and the asphalt concrete resurfacing of the bridge and approaches. All of the work was performed in a staged construction sequence so that traffic could be maintained over and under the rehabilitated bridge at all times.
