This $11.9 million project for NYSDOT consisted of the widening of the Route 35/202 intersection by means of relocating the Hunter Brook and replacing the existing precast concrete culvert with a longer structure. Intersection improvements included two additional through lanes (one eastbound and one southbound) along Route 35/202, a continuous left-turning lane from Route 35/202 to the business district, new signals and turning lanes at Pine Grove Court, a right lane at the existing signal at Route 35/202 and Stony Street, a left-turn lane from the Bear Mountain Parkway Extension, and a new merge lane from the Bear Mountain Parkway extension. New sidewalks and sidewalk extensions, new traffic signals, relocation of the bus stop at Stony Street, new crosswalks, and a trail extension were also included in this project.
Additional construction activities included 87,000 cubic yards of excavation and installation of stormwater drainage system, concrete curb and sidewalk, asphalt pavement, geosynthetically reinforced soil system slope, and several stormwater management systems (bioretention ponds, pocket wetland, detention pond with organic filter, and hydrodynamic separator).
