The scope of work included extending the pedestrian overpass at Track 5 to allow for access from State Street directly to the platforms, and included an escalator, elevator, and static staircase.
The work also included extending the two middle platform canopies to provide extended coverage and adding additional shelter to the platforms. A static staircase and sidewalk were constructed at the far eastern end of the platform for Track 4, to allow access from Atlantic Street and Station Place. The overpass extensions, elevator, and escalator are supported by the use of mini-piles.
Infrastructure work included the extension of the existing electrical systems along the platform canopies and associated shelters, as well as the pedestrian overpass and associated stair facilities. This work included demolition/removal of the existing light standards in platform canopy extension areas and replacement with canopy lighting systems.
This work was highly coordinated with Metro-North for track access.
