The New York State Department of Transportation, Region 11, has selected ECCO III Enterprises, Inc. as the Best-Value Contractor for Contract D263208: The Kew Gardens Interchange, Contract 2B, Van Wyck Expressway Between Hoover Avenue and 72nd Avenue in Queens, NY!
The Project is designed to improve the interchange by replacing the southbound Van Wyck Expressway (VWE) Viaduct over the Grand Central Parkway interchange, as well as the southbound VWE to westbound Utopia Parkway (Ramp KA). The work also includes modifications to the southbound VWE to the westbound Jackie Robinson Parkway, the addition of an auxiliary lane on the VWE southbound roadway, new retaining walls, highway lighting improvements and relocation of various utilities. The work performed on this Project will facilitate a future realignment project, Contract 3. The project will be performed in four major stages, comprised of a total of 11 sub-stages.
500,000 vehicles per day pass through the Kew Gardens Interchange, located at the confluence of the Van Wyck Expressway, Grand Central Parkway, Union Turnpike and Jackie Robinson Parkway. Having performed bridge and roadway reconstruction projects for the NYSDOT for over thirty years, ECCO III has gained wide-ranging knowledge and experience with every component of the work required for Contract D263208, and has extensive experience working in confined, isolated work zones on the Van Wyck Expressway.
