This $47 Million project for the New York State Department of Transportation is replacing the 138th Street Bridge over the Major Deegan Expressway in the Borough of the Bronx. This is heavily traveled major thoroughfare requires precise management due to the heavily congested area with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The project is broken down into 10 stages encompassing the necessary utilities and sewer, actual bridge reconstruction and finally pavement reconstruction with final placement of underground utilities and bridge structures. The project will rely heavily on cooperation and coordination with Con Ed Gas and Electric, Empire City Subway Communications, NYSDOT ITS and the traveling public.
