ECCO III Enterprises, Inc.

Highway Where & When, Region-Wide, Various Municipalities

This Project for the New York State Department of Transportation was a Highway Where and When Project at various locations in Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester counties. This work was performed under various work orders issued by the NYSDOT.

The provisions of the Contract required that ECCO III Enterprises, Inc. establish and maintain twenty-four-hour standby readiness in order to take action, at the Regional Director’s discretion, to protect property and public safety by repairing portions of and preventing further degradation to State highway structures. The repair was of a type that is typically associated with structural repairs to bridges, overhead sign structures, large culverts, and their appurtenances.

CRITICAL WORK ORDER:

Route 218 Culvert Replacement & Slope Washout Repairs: In July of 2023, Route 218, a 100+ year old scenic roadway also known as Storm King Highway, was decimated by extreme rain and flooding that caused a portion of the roadway to collapse down the mountainside.

ECCO III took immediate action, working hand-in-hand with the Department, to ensure the roadway was properly repaired, with additional resiliency measures put in place to protect against future extreme weather events. The work included culvert replacement, cast-in-place wingwalls, GRSS wall installation, roadway reconstruction, and slope stabilization. In just one (1) year, ECCO III Department reopened the roadway to the public, allowing it to once again serve residents and visitors traveling across the Hudson Valley.
