ADA Upgrades and Circulation Improvements at Broadway Junction Complex​

The Broadway Junction Complex is a key component of the New York City (NYC) public transportation system, supporting the transportation of approximately 100,000 people per day, utilizing five (5) subway lines, A/C, J/Z, and L, along with numerous buses. As a critical transfer station within NYC, it is imperative that this facility provide accessible options for all commuters in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Contract A37130, ADA Upgrades and Circulation Improvements at Broadway Junction Complex is a significant step forward to improving circulation and providing greater accessibility to the Broadway Junction Complex and the NYC subway system. This Contract includes, but is not limited to, the installation of new elevators and corresponding machine rooms; the removal and replacement of existing escalators; new ADA-compliant stairs at the A/C Station, J/Z Station and the L Station; expansion of the A/C Station Control House; a new L Station Control House; a new accessible MTA Employee Facility; a new Comfort Station at Callahan Kelly Playground; improvements to the MTA owned Parking Lot; among other improvements.

Optimizing the Broadway Junction Complex’s circulation flow and ADA-compliant route options will provide a significant benefit to the community and aid in the betterment of transportation options throughout NYC.
