SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION! Contract No. D265217: Highway Reconstruction: US Route 6 at Annsville Circle for Flood Mitigation for the NYS Department of Transportation!

SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION 🚧

This past December, ECCO III Enterprises, Inc. achieved Substantial Completion on Contract D265217: Highway Reconstruction: US Route 6 at Annsville Circle for Flood Mitigation for the NYS Department of Transportation.

This critical project addressed long-standing flooding and structural deficiencies at Annsville Circle, a key intersection of US Route 6, US Route 202, and US Route 9 in Cortlandt Manor, NY. The work transformed the existing circle into a modern four-leg roundabout, elevated by approximately 4 feet to improve resilience against high tides, heavy rainfall, and weather-related flooding. The Contract also included raising a half-mile stretch of US Route 6/US Route 202 and other surrounding roadways by as much as 7 feet, to mitigate flooding. Additional improvements included installation of a closed stormwater drainage system, upgraded lighting for enhanced nighttime safety, native landscaping, new guiderails, and pedestrian-friendly features such as crosswalks and shared-use paths.

This Project incorporated innovative, environmentally-responsible construction techniques such as the use of lightweight fill material manufactured from recycled glass. Geosynthetic reinforced soil technology was also used to stabilize the Hudson River embankment edges. This approach uses layered materials such as fabrics, grids, and meshes to strengthen and retain the soil. It also conserved space and allowed two-way traffic to be maintained for most of the construction period.

👏 Great work by our Annsville Circle team and all of our partners who contributed to delivering this important project, on time and within budget!
